Culture and evenings in Lausanne

Cinema, a relaxed meal or a museum visit can round out a stay in Lausanne. The first two ideas work as evening plans; the museums are better for an extra day or a sufficiently long daytime gap. None is an organized SGV dinner or an inclusion in meeting registration.

Time budgets are our suggested allowances for the whole outing, not measured transport times. Check opening dates, language/subtitles, tickets and the return journey directly with the venue. A programme listing is not a reservation.

1. A film at the Capitole

The Cinémathèque suisse screens films at the Capitole, Avenue du Théâtre 6. Browse the official programme for the date you will be in Lausanne and check the screening language and subtitles. Allow an evening of about three hours from CHUV, adjusting for the actual film length and travel. No specific screening on 24 or 25 November is promised here.

2. A relaxed evening in the Flon

The former warehouse district around Place de l’Europe brings restaurants, bars and cinemas together. The m2 to Lausanne-Flon makes it a practical meeting point after leaving CHUV. Allow at least 90 minutes for an unhurried stop, and longer for dinner. Choose a venue to suit your group and confirm opening hours and dietary options directly; these are independent venues, not confirmed SGV arrangements.

3. Plateforme 10 on an extra day

Beside Lausanne’s main station, Plateforme 10 brings fine arts, design and photography together at MCBA, mudac and Photo Elysée. Choose one museum rather than trying to rush through all three. Allow two to three hours from CHUV, or visit before a train journey with enough luggage and departure margin. Charles Blanc-Gatti: The Colours of Sound at MCBA is scheduled from 25 September 2026 to 17 January 2027. Check each museum’s opening day and ticket arrangements; this is a daytime suggestion, not a promise of evening opening.

4. Collection de l’Art Brut in wet weather

The museum at Avenue des Bergières 11 offers an indoor alternative, focusing on work made outside conventional artistic training. Allow two to three hours for an outing from CHUV, including travel and time with the collection. Choose a daytime slot and check the museum’s current calendar; do not rely on being able to visit after the last talk.
